Java Tea (Orthosiphon stamineus)
Description
Orthosiphon is a plant genus within the Lamiaceae family. All species are native to tropical Asia, from tropical to southern Africa, Madagascar and north-eastern Australia.
The dried leaves and twig tips of Orthosiphon are used medicinally. Among other things, they contain flavonoids such as sinensetin, caffeic acid derivatives such as rosmarinic acid, small amounts of essential oil and oxygenated diterpenes such as orthosiphol.
Properties
Java tea primarily has diuretic effects and therefore can strengthen the natural function of the kidneys.
Possible uses
Java tea is preferably used to flush the kidneys and remove metabolic waste more quickly for stimulating the entire metabolism.
Important to know
The combination with other plants that also promote the excretion of metabolic waste and have diuretic effects (e.g. dandelion) is very useful in order to maximize the effects.
